Individual, Couples and Family Therapy
Providing services to Children, Adolescents and Adults
Psychotherapy can relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety, but it also has the potential to promote emotional growth and health, improve confidence and self-esteem, create insight, and lead to the ability to make positive behavioral changes. Such behavioral changes can also positively impact mood, performance, and interpersonal relationships.
At Main Line Therapy Solutions, we have over 20 clinicians, each of whom specialize in working with specific age groups, are available at a variety of times and in one or more of our 5 locations, and who have a variety of expertise to address the unique concerns of all of our clients. We take the time and care to match each new client with the right clinician to ensure a good therapuetic fit.
The therapeutic relationship and the therapeutic environments are both important factors in determining treatment success. It is important for the client to experience a trusting relationship with the therapist in an environment that feels safe and secure. Privacy and confidentiality are vital to the development of a successful therapeutic alliance. At times a release of information might be recommended when information from other health care providers/school staff would be helpful or necessary for continuity of care. Such communication can only take place once a client signs a written authorization of release of information. Any child over the age of 14 must co-sign such an authorization as well, in order for the communication to occur.

When working with children under the age of 14, confidentiality is still of utmost importance to therapeutic success. Parents are provided with general updates on progress toward goals unless the child gives consent to discuss more sensitive information. Although some parents are uncomfortable not having access to ALL treatment information regarding their child’s sessions, it is important for children to feel safe to disclose information in an environment where there is no concern that the information might be revealed to others and possibly come back to impact them negatively. Adults and children alike should be able to express thoughts and feelings in an environment that is accepting, nonjudgmental, and private. This safe, holding environment gives clients the freedom to explore emotions and behavior and is conducive to the development of accountability and improved decision-making. In situations in which a child’s immediate safety is at risk, parents will be notified so appropriate steps can be taken to assure the child’s well-being.

Although psychotherapy can alleviate and successfully manage many symptoms, occasionally additional support services are necessary for successful treatment. When this situation arises, clinicians will work with clients to assist in making appropriate referrals, and with the client’s permission and signed release, will collaborate with other professionals involved in treatment to assure continuity of care. These professionals can include Psychiatrists, Primary Care Physicians, Neurologists, Nutritionists, etc..
