Dr. Charles Jacob received his doctorate at the Pennsylvania State  University and is currently a full time faculty member in the Human Development/Quantitative Methods Division at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. He has been working in mental health since 2000 and holds licenses in Pennsylvania as a psychologist, a professional counselor and a marriage and family therapist. He is the past president of the PA branch of the American Counseling Association, author of myriad scholarly articles, and has presented at academic conferences and colloquiums all over the world.  In addition to treating depression, anxiety, and other general psychological concerns, Dr. Jacob specializes in family and couples counseling, addictions counseling, and grief counseling. He embraces an existential approach to therapy, in that he is concerned with the “why” of problem development as much as the “how.” His approach to treatment is to help individuals, couples, and families develop strategies to address and correct specific problems as well as develop a deeper understanding of why these problems surfaced in the first place.

When not engaged in teaching, research, and clinical practice, Dr. Jacob enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and cats.
